Held in the library, this event is always well attended and a huge success, thanks to our librarian, Ms. Kraal, and her faithful volunteers!
February: Z Art Auction
The Z is none other than the infamous Zilker Elementary Art Auction - one of the best Art Auctions just west of SoCo. Each year the Z Art Auction raises money for the Zilker Arts in Education Fund - a fund used to supplement the school’s academic framework with mind and heart-expanding art programs. At Zilker, we believe that music, movement, literature and visual arts are an essential part of every child’s development. In the past, we have raised enough money to provide the students with the Circle of Light Holiday Concert, performances by One World Theatre, African Drumming & Dance lessons, Yoga, Martial Arts and much more.
February: Shakespeare
Our very own Clayton Stromberger, Zilker parent and director of UT’s Shakespeare at Winedale Outreach program (www.shakespeare-winedale.org), offers a 10-week after-school master class series for students who want to brush up their Shakespeare each Spring om. The master class is for students in grades 3-6 who want a challenge. This class culminates in a final performance for family and friends.
March: Bunny Hop
Get your bunny ears on and join the kids for the school-wide Bunny Hop-a-thon on the bastketball courts each Spring.
April: Spring Fling
This fun event is the PTA's largest fundraising event of the year. Live music, live and silent auction, great food, and great fun for a great cause. No kids at this event--so line up your babysitters early! In 2009, the event raised more than $20,000, most of which went to purchase a new computer lab for students.
April: Track and Field Day
Organized by our P.E. teacher, Ms. Ponzoha, this 2-day event is full of athletic activities with an emphasis on team spirit.
April: Alamo Movie Night
Curl up in a blanket and watch a family-friendly show under the stars at this fun annual event supported by our neighbor, Alamo Drafthouse.
May: Mother's Day Jewelry Sale
Students collect unwanted jewelry donations that are then sold to raise money for Zilker. It’s a fun way for Zilker students to pick out something special for Mom.
