The Zilker Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of parents and teachers working together to create the excellent and enriched environment we all enjoy at Zilker Elementary. To do this, the PTA puts on several fun events that build our school community and raise the funds needed to make additional educational, artistic and cultural enrichment programs possible at Zilker.
Programs sponsored by the PTA include (more information here):
- Fun Fundraisers: Zamboree school carnival, Zilker Backyard concert, Spring Fling, Z Art Auction
- Community Events: Diez y Seis de Septiembre potluck, Alamo Movie Night
- Enrichment Programs: Yoga and martial arts instruction, Circle of Lights holiday concert, Coffee House student talent show, Field trips to art venues.
- Parent/Teacher Events: Meet the teacher orientation, teacher appreciation events plus other staff events
- School Grants & Programs: student tutoring programs, technology upgrades, campus beautification projects, classroom grants
The PTA raises more than $30,000 a year to support the above programs. Recently funded projects funded include a new student computer lab, campus beautification projects (such as the beautiful new tile mosaic and outdoor mural), and tutoring support for children.
None of this would be possible without the annual support of the families and teachers that make up our Zilker community. If you are not currently a Zilker PTA member, please consider joining today at the link above. Individual and family memberships are available for just $8 and $12 each.
Membership is open to anyone who supports the mission and purposes of the Zilker Parent Teacher Association.
