Funding Needs

Spanish Language Program (NEW at School!)

  • · Sponsorship of a child to participate in the program: $125/child

 

Technology

  • · 7 Dell 2330dn printers: $299 each
  • · 30 iMac desktop computers: $965 each
  • · 5 Mimio interactive devices: $569 each
  • · 5 Macbook laptops: $1,088 each
  • · Lightspeed mics and speakers: $280/mic

 

Arts in Education

  • · Musical Performance - $350/performance
  • · Painting of Portables - $350/portable
  • · Cultural Program (9 days of instruction on Aboriginal Art, Dance & Music with Omid Laridjani) - $1500
  • · Curtains for stage: $3,000

 

Little Zilker Park

  • · Plants, boulders, and landscaping materials for butterfly garden, solar panel demonstration area, and new water fountain area, including:
  • · Trees and Large Shrubs: $100 each

(Mexican Buckeye, Anacacho Orchid, Eve's Necklace, Possumhaw Holly, Persimmon, Mexican Plum)

  • · Rocks and Boulders: $50 each + transportation
  • · Shrubs: $25 each

(American Beautyberry, Butterfly Bush, Flame Acanthus, Bush Germander)

  • · Colorful Perennials

(Black-eyed Susan, Coreopsis, Blackfoot Daisy, Copper Canyon Daisy, Fall Aster, Firebush, Texas Lantana, Purple Coneflower)

 

PTA General Fund

  • · Field trips: any amount helps
  • · After school tutoring for academically at-risk children: $50/child
  • · Classroom materials and equipment: any amount helps

 

 

 

 

Did you know that with your support the Zilker PTA raises more than $30,000 a year? Those dollars translate into tangible benefits for our students and faculty. Over the last year, proceeds from Zilker PTA fundraisers were used to purchase a new computer lab, support student field trips, beautify the campus, including a new outdoor mural, and to bring artistic and musical performances to the school, such as a One World Theater performance about China.  PTA dollars also provide grants to help teachers buy additional books and educational software for their classrooms, support faculty professional development, and provide free after-school tutoring for children who are academically at-risk.

For the coming school year, we want to further enhance our students' cultural, artistic, and academic learning opportunities by upgrading and enhancing technology, adding more art on the campus, and adding an in-school Spanish language teaching program.  To add Spanish, the PTA must raise an additional $20,000.

None of these activities would be possible without the ongoing and generous support of the families, teachers, and businesses that make up our Zilker community.
