SHAKESPEARE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM RETURNS

It’s time again for ZAS (Zilker Afterschool Shakespeare), the class that allows Zilker students in grades 3-5 the opportunity to work on scenes from Shakespeare and perform them for family and friends. This class is taught by Clayton Stromberger, a Zilker dad and longtime arts educator and Shakespeare at Winedale graduate.

The 10-week session will culminate in a small final performance for family and friends. No previous experience necessary — only enthusiasm and a willingness to work with others independently and to be a good audience for others!

Classes: Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. (beginning Sept. 21)

Tuition: $125 for 10 classes total.  PTA-funded scholarships may be available for low-income families — inquire if needed.  (Also, there is a 10% tuition discount for siblings.)

To register:  Contact Mr. Stromberger (cstromberger@mail.utexas.edu or on his cell phone at (512) 363-6864). You can also contact Kathie Sever (ramonsterwear@gmail.com) for more information.

DRAMA OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNGER ZILKERITES

Are your kids acting out after school? Too young for the Shakespeare program? Maybe they need to put that acting to good use in the Drama Club, which two Zilker parents are about to begin. It will be every Wednesday afternoon right after school until 4:15 in portable D-1. There is room for 20 first- and second-graders. A small performance fee (being determined) will help pay for costumes and sets for the two shows the group plans to present. Interested? Contact Robin Hunter (c_robinhunt@yahoo.com) for more information.
