Volunteers Needed at Lunchtime
Volunteers are needed in the cafeteria at lunch time over the next week (Aug. 30-Sept 3) to help teach Zilker kiddos how to sort food for our new composting program. Lunch is served each day between 10 am to 1:15 pm. The Zilker PTA Green Team worked with Organics by Gosh to set up the new service, which will divert food waste and milk boxes from the trash and into compost to be used in gardens around Austin. Zilker's Back-to-School Nights will be on Thursday, September 2, for grades 3 - 5; and on Tuesday, September 7, for grades pre-kindergarten - 2nd. A short PTA meeting will begin at 6:30 each night with faculty/staff introductions around 6:45. Classroom information sessions with our teachers will begin at 7:00.These nights are intended for parents/guardians since teachers will share information about our curriculum, schedules, routines, homework, expectations, classroom management plans, attendance, means of communication, etc.
Principal & PTA Coffee Talk: Sept 8th, 7:45-8:30 a.m.

Come to the Zilker Cafeteria on Saturday August 28th from 10-2 for the Annual Zilker Swap Meet. Bring what you can. Take what you need. We’ll have mountains and mountains of clothing, jackets, backpacks and shoes all sorted by size and gender. ALL SIZES!!! From infant to adult. We’ll have silk screening and sewers too ready to make your garments one-of-a-kind! Why back to school shop, when you can back to school SWAP???!!! This is a community wide event so tell your friends. Bring your bags! And let’s help our kids learn how to declare their own amazing style.
